Yoga originated in ancient India. The practice involves a

may be used independent of or in combination with chanting, meditation,
or readings for inspiration.
Pilates, developed in the early 20th century by Joseph
Pilates, is similar to Yoga in that it focuses on body movement and
core strength. Similar to Yoga, Pilates works to join physical postures
with concentration, and also with breathing and self awareness in a way
similar to Yoga. Pilates is based on six principles: Centering,
Concentration, Control, Precision, Breathing, and Flowing movement.
The Advantages Of Yoga And Pilates

reasons, the peripheral benefits are the same for all and are

- Increased flexibility
- Calmer mind and spirit
